One of my goals for 2010 is to do a better job as a spokesperson for myself. Over the years, I’ve built relationships with a number of media outlets. Hence, I’m frequently a guest on radio shows and TV news programs as an informed source on personal technology issues.
It’s fun to do and I’m always amused when people tell me that they heard me on the air. (It just happened with the dentist, right before she put a crown in my mouth.) I generally don’t promote these appearances but I’m starting to think it is necessary as media continues to evolve into a more personal platform.
On Wednesday, I spoke with WGN Radio’s Bob Sirott about a host of new gadgets. That includes Google’s new Nexus One phone, Apple’s expected iTablet (or iSlate or iCandy or maybe iRumor) and the many gadgets coming out of the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show.
Here is part 1 of our chat and here is part 2. The second segment starts with Bob complaining about HD Radio, a wonderful technology but completely misunderstood.
After Bob’s show, I headed over to the West Loop studios of WCIU TV 26, where the nationally syndicated First Business TV show is taped. (It airs in about 150 markets). I’m a frequent guest and yesterday I discussed Google’s Nexus One with Brian Bolan, a top-notch equity analyst I quoted often during my days at the Chicago Tribune. He doesn’t tweet much, though.
Here’s the segment, courtesy of reporter and producer Paul Eggers — new to Twitter.
I’ve posted a selection of my TV and radio appearances on this website. I’ve also started to mention the appearances on Twitter, if you care to follow.
It is not all about me, only sometimes.
